Counting Caterpillar Craft!

Happy Wednesday Family!

Grab your littles and get ready for a quick and easy counting craft, that's not only adorable but will serve as a great learning tool. Your littles are craving counting and are thriving during all our counting songs in class. So, what better way to keep the momentum than with this little craft?

What You'll Need:

  1. Colored Construction Paper

  2. A Paper Plate

  3. Scissors

  4. Glue

  5. Markers

  6. Something To Draw Even Circles (*I used a plastic cup but anything circular that you have will work!)

Step 1: Cut your paper plate into a "C" shape.

Step 2: Pick out 6 different colored pieces of paper. With your circular device and a colored marker, trace even circles on each of your colored pieces of paper. On 5 pieces, trace two circles (*You will have 10 circles that will serve as the body of the caterpillar, as well as the counting numbers. For me Blue was 1 and 6, Green was 2 and 7, Orange was 3 and 8, Purple was 4 and 9, and Pink was 5 and 10). Once the circles are traced, cut them all out.

Step 3: Write numbers on your circles (*See above for how I did my numbers on each color). With your remaining circle, draw the face of the caterpillar and with green construction paper, cut out two antennae and glue them to your face circle.

Step 4: Glue your face circle and numbers 1 through 5 to your "C" shape that you cut from your paper plate. (*Numbers 6 through 10 will remain detached so your little can move them around and position them however they like).

This craft is not only great for counting but also learning colors. You can combine number and color learning by asking your little to tell you, "How many blue/green/orange/purple/pink circles they see?" You can even bring your counting caterpillar to Snack and Share class on Wednesdays and he/she/they can be friends with our very hungry caterpillar.

Have A Happy Week!
